Landscape paintings often point toward a deeper longing, a reverence, an emersion, absorbed and re-interpreted through direct observation. These works aim to acknowledge the larger familiar landscape as an unachievable whole. The whole is never reproducible. Not by a long shot. However, through our individual perspective, we may begin to absorb it, reduce it to a fragment, and maybe come to know some small portion intimately. - Robert
